  987 barcelona is located at the heart of the modernista (art nouveau) trail a stone s throw from the passeig de gra cia and within easy reach of some of the city s best known buildings including the casa mila (antoni s gauda s la pedrera) and the sagrada fama lia. the hotel is in a quiet spot in the heart of the eixample district home to the stop shopping centres museums and other attractions just a few minutes walk from the ramblas and the boqueria market and with excellent links to barcelona airport and the ave high speed train (at sants station). the building was constructed in 1918 as the house of tomas mayol by the architect alfons b.miracle. some years later two new floors were added to the top. in 1984 francesc mitjans i mira was commissioned to refurbish the building converting it into offices. it served this purpose until it was purchased by 987 hotels and after a large scale refurbishment which took two years it became a designer hotel. the 987 barcelona opened its doors in april 2007. the 987 barcelona has a total of 88 rooms including 3 suites which invite guests to enjoy a pleasant stay. some of them have private roof terraces with views over the eixample with the spectacular towers of the sagrada fama lia as a backdrop. all the rooms feature heating and air conditioning a tft screen with satellite television a mini bar and free wireless internet connection as well as a private safe and the all the comforts of a top class hotel. in the 987 lounge you can enjoy a uniquely relaxing atmosphere in which to sample both a selection of cocktels and a la carte gastronomic menu to delight guests in a modern colourful setting which is excellently situated in the heart of the city. the carefully prepared cuisine of the 987 barcelona restaurant is based on the quality of its ingredients as well as on elaborated presentation and unique setting.
